Changes are inevitable on any project because it is generally not feasible from a cost or schedule standpoint to produce perfect bid documents.

Once we've established that change is inevitable, then the obvious question arises "How do we deal with change?". Project changes that occur after a contract is signed are handled by creating and processing change orders. In this course - the first in a 3-part series on Change Orders - we answer the question "What is a Change Order?".

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Define a change order.
  • Explain where change orders fit within the construction process.
  • Identify the purposes of change orders.
  • Describe when change orders are made.
  • Determine how many change orders may be appropriate for a project.
  • Explain how change orders can benefit the owner, the engineer, and the contractor.

Certificate of Completion

You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 14 questions. CPD credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
