Overview
This course will introduce you to the fundamental operating principles of one-way directional flow control devices known as check valves. You will learn how they automatically prevent reverse flow in piping systems, why they are fundamental to a wide variety of industries and processes, and which types are best suited for particular applications and fluid types.
The course provides descriptions of eight commonly used check valve types, including annotated figures of their typical construction and concise advantages and disadvantages of each type. This course will serve as both an educational resource for check valve fundamentals and as a practical future reference for engineers selecting and designing systems in the water/wastewater, oil and gas, HVAC, and chemical processing industries.
