In this course, we will discuss the full impact of a retaining wall on a construction site. We will highlight often-overlooked features of retaining walls and how to prevent not just structural, but also larger scale site problems related to these structures. Numerous case histories of failed earth structures including the failure causes, will be investigated, as well as the subsequent repair techniques taken, and what could have prevented the failure. We will address site layout improvements related to retaining walls, comprehensive retaining wall design and inspection, along with proper roles and responsibilities of all the involved parties.
