VAV System Design
In VAV System Design , you'll learn ...
- Early design issues that VAV system designers should pay particular attention to
- VAV box selection and controls
- Duct design best practices
- Factors to consider when selecting common fan types for large VAV applications
- The benefits of using demand-based static pressure setpoint reset
Overview
Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems are a popular type of HVAC system in commercial buildings for both energy savings and comfort; however, there are multiple considerations that must be taken into account during design in order to realize these design objectives and avoid pitfalls.
In this course the student will learn some of the basic considerations that should be taken into account when considering using a VAV system in a building.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify early VAV system design issues and applicable recommendations.
- Describe zone design issues and recommendations for VAV systems.
- Explain VAV box selection and control considerations.
- Identify key considerations for VAV duct design.
- Describe methods for controlling supply air temperature.
- Explain fan selection considerations for VAV systems.
- Describe the use of supply air pressure reset.
- Identify coil and filter selection considerations.
- Explain methods for controlling outside, return, and exhaust air.
Certificate of Completion
You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 15 questions. CPD credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
