Substations - Volume IX: Substation Structures
In Substations - Volume IX: Substation Structures, you'll learn ...
- Factors that may affect the choice of material and member type selected for substations structures
- Three types of substation structures related to the function served in the substation
- The difference between lattice, solid profile and semi-solid profile structures
- Determination of design loads for substation structures
Overview
This 3-hour course is the ninth in a series of courses on the design of electrical substations. The courses do not necessarily have to be taken in order and, for the most part, are stand-alone courses.
This course provides a brief introduction to substation structural design issues and methodology.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- The issues related to structural design of substations
- Structural types used in substations
- The benefits of each structural type
- How equipment support structures are designed
- How to calculate wind loads on structures
- How to calculate short circuit loads on structures
- How to calculate seismic loads on structures
Certificate of Completion
You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 20 questions. CPD credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
