Substations - Volume VII: Other Major Equipment
In Substations - Volume VII: Other Major Equipment, you'll learn ...
- The types of high-voltage air switches used in substations, as well as applicable standards, construction, ratings and service conditions
- The application of surge arresters for the protection of equipment in substations
- Design data for current and inductively coupled voltage transformers of types used in the measurement of electricity and in the control of equipment
- The purpose and selection of coupling capacitors and coupling capacitor voltage transformers
Overview
This 5-hour course is the seventh in a series of courses on the design of electrical substations. The courses do not necessarily have to be taken in order and, for the most part, are stand-alone courses.
This course covers non-oil filled substation equipment that is used in substations.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Types of air switches
- How air switches are rated
- How surge arresters are classified
- The margins of protection for arrestors
- How to apply a metal oxide arrestor
- The application of instrument transformers
- Instrument transformer burden ratings
- Types of instrument transformers
- When combination instrument transformers are used
- The application of coupling capacitors
Certificate of Completion
You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 30 questions. CPD credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
