This 2-hour course is the first in a series of courses on the design of electrical substations. The courses do not necessarily have to be taken in order and, for the most part, are stand-alone courses.

This course gives an overview of the entire process and explains the main factors that must be considering, including siting issues and drawings and other documents required.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the types of substations.
  • Describe site considerations for substation design.
  • Explain environmental considerations associated with siting a substation.
  • Classify noise zones for substations.
  • Identify weather phenomena that must be considered in substation design.
  • Describe the documents and drawings required for a substation design.

Certificate of Completion

You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 15 questions. CPD credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
