This course provides an overview of power distribution industrial facilities. Since almost every facility in the country has some single phase 120/240 volt power to run single phase 120 volt and 240 volt loads, this power supply is explained first.

Single phase systems are then expanded to three phase systems, starting with 120/208 volt three phase which has 120 volt single phase available. Smaller facilities can use this supply to run three phase loads such as motors and also run 120 volt single phase outlets. Next, larger delta and wye three phase sources are explained. Finally, the course covers high voltage distribution systems for larger facilities. In the process, single line diagrams are introduced.

• CClassify the principles used to understand and create one-line diagrams of electrical distribution systems with sufficient accuracy to distinguish them from related concepts.
• EEvaluate three-phase delta and wye power distribution and the applications of each, citing the distinguishing characteristics relevant to engineering decisions.
• Analyze the voltages used in delta and wye systems, citing the distinguishing characteristics relevant to engineering decisions.
• Implement the rules and regulations of NFPA 70, the National Electrical Code, as they relate to industrial power distribution in a representative engineering or safety scenario.
• Identify high-voltage power supplies for large industrial facilities and demonstrate understanding through an assessment question or scenario.
